Checking Import and Export Licence Requirements
You can check if a product requires an import or export licence by contacting our licensing helpline on 0191 226 5050.

Our helpline is open Monday to Friday between 9.00am to 5.00pm. During busy periods an answerphone service may operate on the helpline but we will respond to any messages left.

We will need to know the relevant Commodity Codes (also known as the Tariff or Combined Nomenclature code) for the product before we can check if a licence is required. If you do not know the relevant code for your product you should first contact Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Tariff Helpline on 01702 366 077. HMRC can also advise on any import duties that might be payable on goods.
